Mike Pompeo, Director of the CIA, will become our new Secretary of State. He will do a fantastic job! Thank you to Rex Tillerson for his service! Gina Haspel will become the new Director of the CIA, and the first woman so chosen. Congratulations to all!

North Korea has not conducted a Missile Test since November 28, 2017 and has promised not to do so through our meetings. I believe they will honor that commitment!

In the first hours after hearing that North Korea’s leader wanted to meet with me to talk denuclearization and that missile launches will end, the press was startled & amazed. They couldn’t believe it. But by the following morning the news became FAKE. They said so what, who cares!

 

북한 지도자가 비핵화를 얘기하기 위해 나와 만나기를 원하고, 미사일 발사를 중단할 것이라는 소식을 접한 후 몇 시간도 지나지 않아 언론은 도무지 믿을 수 없다고 깜짝 놀랬습니다. 하지만 다음날 아침 뉴스는 가짜 뉴스가 되었습니다. 그들이 뭐 그렇게 말한 거, 누가 신경 써!

 

Spoke to Prime Minister Abe of Japan, who is very enthusiastic about talks with North Korea. Also discussing opening up Japan to much better trade with the U.S. Currently have a massive $100 Billion Trade Deficit. Not fair or sustainable. It will all work out!

 

일본의 아베 총리와 이야기 했습니다. 아베 총리는 북한과의 대화에 매우 열성적입니다. 또한 미국과의 더 나은 무역증진을 일본과 논의를 시작합니다. 현재 1천억 달러의 무역적자가 있습니다. 공평하지 않거나 지속 가능하지 않습니다. 다 잘될 것입니다!

 

Chinese President XI JINPING and I spoke at length about the meeting with KIM JONG UN of North Korea. President XI told me he appreciates that the U.S. is working to solve the problem diplomatically rather than going with the ominous alternative. China continues to be helpful!

 

중국의 시진핑(XI JINPING) 주석과 저는 북한의 김정은 위원장과의 만남에 대해 오랫동안 이야기했습니다. 시 주석은 미국이 불길한 대안으로 가는 것이 아니라 외교적으로 문제를 해결하기 위해 노력하고 있음을 높이 평가한다고 전했습니다. 중국은 계속 도움을 많이 줍니다!

 

The deal with North Korea is very much in the making and will be, if completed, a very good one for the World. Time and place to be determined.

 

북한과의 협상이 대단히 잘 이루어지고 있고 그렇게 될 것입니다. 완수된다면 세계를 위해 아주좋은 것입니다. 시간과 장소를 결정해야 합니다.

 

Kim Jong Un talked about denuclearization with the South Korean Representatives, not just a freeze. Also, no missile testing by North Korea during this period of time. Great progress being made but sanctions will remain until an agreement is reached. Meeting being planned!

 

김정은은 한국 대표들과 단순한 동결이 아닌 비핵화에 대해서도 이야기했다. 또한 이 기간 동안 북한의 미사일 실험도 없을 것이다. 위대한 진전이 이루어지고 있지만, 합의에 도달할 때까지 제재가 유지될 것입니다. 회의가 계획되고 있습니다!

 

Possible progress being made in talks with North Korea. For the first time in many years, a serious effort is being made by all parties concerned. The World is watching and waiting! May be false hope, but the U.S. is ready to go hard in either direction!

 

북한과의 대화에서 가능한 진전이 있을 수 있습니다. 수년 만에 처음으로, 관련 당사국 모두가 진지한 노력을 기울이고 있습니다. 세계가 보고 기다리고 있습니다! 거짓 희망일지는 모르지만 미국은 어느 방향으로든 갈 준비가 되어 있습니다!

 

I will be meeting with Henry Kissinger at 1:45pm. Will be discussing North Korea, China and the Middle East.
